The three-phase asynchronous motor or three-phase induction motor is a brushless asynchronous electric motor, powered by a three-phase AC voltage system. The motor is also called AC motor or reverse synchronous motor.

A major advantage of this type of electric motor is the maintenance-free (no carbon brushes and commutator) and compact construction. Asynchronous motors are used everywhere in drive technology and also in heavy machinery and traction systems.
